montreal, 2019
my family spends most of our time together on road trips. but it’s a lot of time.
we drove to the city once in 2016 and again in 2019. i discovered one of my favorite images I’ve taken. I didn’t remember particularly liking it when I first took it, but I archived it anyway.
traveling to new cities with my family was always an active act of growing up. my parent’s values were challenged outside their home, of course, but weren’t met with anxiety. in some way, i could prove that i understood what they instilled, and they could award more responsibility and freedom as their trust in judgment evolved.
we took picnics on the riverside that summer. my dad would find tunis-eans in their twenties smoking marijuana on the river docks to befriend and laugh about it. it surprised me to see.
